Saint-Saëns composed prolifically yet few people are aware that he wrote any music for trombone. His Cavatine demonstrates perfectly the salient characteristics of Saint-Saëns Conservatoire musical style — neat proportions, clarity, polished expression and an elegant melodic tune.
